The Fatal Problem / Trades for Nao / Lestrade to cancel manually
« on April 9th, 2017, 02:40 PM »
Nao / Lestrade:

Could you cancel these 2? Both were agreed on by both parties to cancel the trade.

Thanks in advance!

I posted this as a thread because I assume there are other people that want some trades cancelled.

The Noble Talk / Re: What's up at Lestrade's?

Hmmm, I didn't have a default e-mail adress entered so when I tried to disable the checkbox for other users to send me e-mails I could not because the form wanted an e-mail address. So I ended up filling in a bogus e-mail address. That should also solve the issue of getting e-mails when you don't want to.

@Nao: I'm also posting this as this no doubt wasn't your intended solution, so might be useful for you as input to think of something better heh (I'd just allow users to not receive e-mails even for offers honestly, their responsibility and such).

I would be perfectly fine with an option to delete all my tradeables and import them afresh (i.e. from Barter or even the export format Barter generates). I'd just do that once in a while.
(:edit: Removed useless giant quote of long post.)

The Fatal Problem / Re: Sync Buttons
« on March 31st, 2017, 01:12 AM »
You have to keep them in sync manually. I highly doubt mine are still synced completely now, so I'm keeping Barter up to date accurately & only adding the important stuff here.

This probably fits better in this thread.

The poll is the better idea. I am not fond of letting the moderators prioritise features as that should come straight from the community.
However you need help with the backlog. Maybe you need to start using Trello and put all the stuff there. We can vote for new features.
I'd recommend using something like Uservoice (www.uservoice.com) for feature suggestions over using a forum like we are doing now. Last I used it users got a limited amount of points (10 or so) they could allocate on features. This forces users to prioritize in which features are most important to them. And popular features automatically drift upwards.

Um! I'm not sure where to go to ask about this, but is there any temporary solution right now for accidentally pushing 'accept' instead of decline and now I can't cancel the trade...

OTL Nothing has been exchanged and I've notified/clarified for the other person but I'd hate to push the "mark as completed" button in case of miscommunication?!
No. If that happened to me I'd probably wait until it almost expires in case the feature is implemented by then. If not, I'd probably (make a thread to) ask Nao to eventually delete the trade offer manually.

For those that don't want everyone on the site to be able to message you, you can turn it to Administrator only in your settings.

Some games don't seem to have ITAD links, in example: (sorry if this was already posted, didn't check the whole thread)

- I noticed I often go back to Barter to check out what previous offers I had with the user sending me an offer.
all Barter offers are already being archived pretty professionally I'd say: https://lestrades.com/trading/24/barter-offer-archive/
While that's definitely a very good initiative, from an end user perspective I think it's preferable to have them available on the user page of the person you are going to trade with. And yeah, relatively low priority, but I'm roughly using this thread to post stuff when I come across them (while it's fresh ;)).

- 2017-03-26: Option on completing offer to *not* remove tradeables from your tradeables list.
- 2017-03-25: Showing on the game page in which offers the game currently is and has been (for you personally)
- 2017-03-25: The log of all actions that have been taken by both parties for a particular offer.
- 2017-03-25: Most of the user options on the Barter user page.

Low priority / nice to have:
- I noticed I often go back to Barter to check out what previous offers I had with the user sending me an offer. I'd love to have those offers on LT as well for when Barter dies. I understand those are probably not imported intentionally, but I figured I'd at least mention it ;-).

Nice post :). I wrote 5% because I am considering LT compared to all options Barter has, not just the key features still missing. Admittedly a lot of those are probably of less interest to some traders (like i.e. all the cool options on the Barter user page).

That's swift. If you see that the offer was sent, giving 5-10 seconds to the user for a chance to cancel seems the best idea!
2. It's not very informative. I mean, look how Milouze was puzzled by the lack of a "Cancel" button when editing an offer, feeling he just reached an impasse. Now add a button with a countdown timer like you have to defuse a bomb... If I were a newbie, that would scare me the first time I see it ("What? What did I do? Do I have to wait? Is something bad going to happen when it reaches zero?")
Agreed. UX design should be focused on keeping things simple; functionality like this that complicates the interaction and only exists for a few seconds is bad in my opinion.

I still think there should be a "Cancel Offer" button when you create an offer (even if it just takes you out of the editing page, without actually canceling anything internally). Otherwise, you only have the option of "Preview" (when you start creating the offer) or "Preview" and "Send" (when you've already started adding stuff to the offer). There's no clear way to cancel the creation process (yes, you could just "walk away" from the editing page, but not all users -especially new users- might know that). If you check Milouze's screenshot, it's clear why a user might think he's just at an impasse at that point.

On the same topic, I almost declined an offer today because I was going to click the wrong button. Confirmation of the desired action (accepting or declining the offer) would be a good idea. No need to reload the page like Barter does to warn you that you are committing to the trade, but just an extra "Are you sure you want to decline?" or "Confirm you will send blablah in exchange for blablah" (or a more simple phrasing) step in javascript to avoid to accidentally canceling/declining/accepting/completing a trade. Not sure if Nao might have already fixed it (I haven't sent any trades), but the same goes for not showing the "Complete trade" button just after you've created the offer (to avoid accidentally completing it, like Barter does).
- Agreed on the Cancel button.
- I really dislike confirmation buttons that are turned on by default UX wise as in 99% of the cases you *want* to do that action and it will just add an extra click. As an user option you can turn off it'd be fine though ;-).
