yeah steam profile comments are bullshit. I don't ask for it, but many traders insist.

I still use profile comments for trading although thanks to those scammers begging for +rep they have become meaningless.

I understand that. I am always a bit too skeptical, from the moment I saw people buying likes on facebook, youtube comments or reviews, it wouldn't surprise me that would come to steam eventually. It damages the community and people who are honest.
At least steamtrades, barter and soon LT can be trusted with feedback.

Profile comments are worse than useless, they create a false sense of security for the gullible. I'm rather partial to Steamtrades because it's universal and it's been around a while.

 I ignore +rep on profiles. Steamtrades and steamrep are the only websites I care about when it comes to verify on how trustworthy a trader is.

I get -rep on profiles can be deleted, and i get these "+rep"-spamming exists.
 
But for me, +rep ona profile is primarily a way to see if a trader has successful trades with other traders i trust / traded with before.

So basically, i don't care how many +rep you have, i care about +rep from trusted sources.

Steam profile comments aren't trustworthy. I don't keep a big list of people I trust so going through them to filter out 'trustworthy' comments isn't worth my time. I do place face in Steamgifts(now Steamtrades) and I check people on SteamRep as well.

Despite whatever the rep systems say about a trader, you still take a chance anytime you trade...I've had several hi-rep traders send bad keys, try to trade crap games for my top-tier stuff or scam me for extra keys by saying the key I just revealed and sent didn't work (although in one case it was true and I sent a replacement). For the most part the rep system can be pretty accurate when combined with amount of completed trades where no one has cried foul. I use SteamTrades and SteamRep in conjunction with barter.vg to help decide if I want to take a chance...+rep comments on Steam don't do it for me.

I never look at steam +rep profile either. I usually look at barter's trading numbers, but if I have doubts, look at the steamtrades.
