Add Library Games
« on May 2nd, 2017, 09:32 PM »
How do I add custom games to my Library? I have DRM-free games and non-Steam games on other platforms that I want filtered as showing in my Library.

Also, am I missing it, or is there no link to the Lestrade's Forum in the site's top navigation bar?

- No way for now. I don't even know if there's a reason to allow for that..? It's a trading site, not a library site..? I need to focus. As for Uplay, Origin and GOG games, there's only a handful of them in the database right now. I'm planning to allow adding games manually into the database but they'll need post-moderation or something. Anyway, I won't work on this until I'm done with the trade system and bundle imports.

- Well you can just go back to the homepage (e.g. click the Lestrade's logo), then click the 'View all forums' link. I removed the forum list from the homepage because it's not used a lot and it was taking space for nothing. The 'current' topics are listed instead.

It makes sense that you would want to add games from other websites to your library. Ex: gog, amazon or other retail games - if these games are also in steam this would prevent them being offered.
I think this is an good extra to have, but not before having support for at least the platforms you mentioned, especially GOG (as being the second biggest).

Yeah... I'll selfishly look at my game numbers on each platform to determine which need to be worked with in priority. ;)
Steam: ~2930
GOG.com: 122 (about 70 bought there, rest from GOG Connect)
Uplay: 27
Origin: 25
itch.io: a dozen games (through Groupees, more if you count free games)
Nuuvem, IndieGameStand and similar stores: 1 (I'm not even gonna bother for now :P)

Ideally, I'd like to be able to create a new game page simply by pasting the URL to its store page, but that'll require some scraping work, and I'm never comfortable with making sure to maintain all of those site scrapers forever. :^^;:

The scraper is an interesting idea, but even a simple manually add with some info attached (url, etc) is enough  :eheh:

Oh, what I mean is: paste the URL from a store page into the system, then it automatically retrieves the game name and confirms the store page's validity to you.
What I could do is simply try to get the name, and if it works, use that, otherwise ask the user the game's name... I guess?
Of course, all of this will only be possible once I sever ties with Barter's game database (only retrieving games through the new[1] /app/ URI scheme.
 1. And may I say, inspired by Lestrade's :P
