Barter features to consider adding?
« on March 24th, 2017, 06:41 PM »
I figured I'd make a thread which I (and others ofcourse) can use to post general Barter features that spring to mind / they really miss while using this site ;-).

To start this off:
I had this nagging feeling I was missing something while clicking around on the site ;-). Eventually I figured out that it's the Barter front page with your recent offers and other trade related stuff that I'm missing. Ergo: I'd love to eventually see a much more trading oriented front page (with recent bundles!).

On a side note:
I really like sites like https://www.uservoice.com/ for discussing features as a forum i.m.o. just isn't an effective way of getting a good read on what features are really wanted by your audience (you only hear from the people willing to put in the effort to write posts like these).

- 2017-03-26: Option on completing offer to *not* remove tradeables from your tradeables list.
- 2017-03-25: Showing on the game page in which offers the game currently is and has been (for you personally)
- 2017-03-25: The log of all actions that have been taken by both parties for a particular offer.
- 2017-03-25: Most of the user options on the Barter user page.

Low priority / nice to have:
- I noticed I often go back to Barter to check out what previous offers I had with the user sending me an offer. I'd love to have those offers on LT as well for when Barter dies. I understand those are probably not imported intentionally, but I figured I'd at least mention it ;-).

all Barter offers are already being archived pretty professionally I'd say: https://lestrades.com/trading/24/barter-offer-archive/
While that's definitely a very good initiative, from an end user perspective I think it's preferable to have them available on the user page of the person you are going to trade with. And yeah, relatively low priority, but I'm roughly using this thread to post stuff when I come across them (while it's fresh ;)).

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of barter out there, many ideas were very counterintuitive, and I mostly used it for the trusted community.

However there's a thing that I really loved about it and I can't find here.
When I look for matches I'd love to see if I've already sent an offer (and which offer) to an user under the match box.
This prevent me to spam the exact (already declined) offer to the same guy over and over again.
For now I'm taking 2 tabs open, one with the offers already sent and the other with the matches, checking every user in a (mostly) O(n^2) fashion (I know, I got a terrible memory).

Pika! Pika!

1) I think it is very important to be able to add multiple copies of a game to your Tradeables. Currently it seems you can either add a single copy or remove a single copy of a game to your list of Tradeables which makes it difficult to keep track of your supplies. Maybe it is useful to have a + or - next to the Tradeables with which the quantity of any game can be modified. The Barter interface in regards to modifying quantities was relatively cumbersome by going to the Edit page and then check boxes to select games and then select the desired manipulation for the selected items. I understand that for some users the advanced settings can be useful, but for many a quick setting to modify quantity with possibly an ability to select no tier, low tier, mid tier or high tier would be enough in an easy access interface. Maybe a 'Save settings' button at the top and/or bottom could ensure that people do not accidentally modify the quantity or tiers of their games. I do not imply that one solution should be in place of the other....both the basic user friendly and advanced options could technically co-exist alongside each other. I also think that a drop down window with selectable options per game right at the location of the game would be very useful besides what Barter had as far as it pertains to the 'Advanced editing options'.

2) I also noticed that currently when trading, a copy is removed from your Tradeables, but the Wishlisted item has to be removed manually. It would possibly be nice if a checkbox would be in place (whose preferences are saved) that would allow the Wishlist to be updated when trading (as in removing the item from the Wishlist that has been acquired in a trade). I admit that I do not know what that checkbox with saved settings would mean for the data usage or speed of the website. The alternative would of course be no checkbox, but that the item simply is removed by default from the Wishlist after trading for it.
