Idea: make the trade system more friendly to multi offers
« on March 16th, 2017, 10:27 AM »
Hello! First above all thanks for the effort you're putting in setting up all this, I think it's turning out great!

I saw you're implementing a new trade system and wanted to make a suggestion that I think would be an improvement over the way barter.vg handled offers.

Many users send multiple offers when trading a game, because often a single offer may sit for days unviewed, left to expire, or just declined right before the expire date. If everyone had to stick to a single offer each user it could take weeks to trade a single game.

The problem is, when sending multiple offers barter allows more than one person to accept a deal for the same game, which means sometimes happens that you have two accepted offers for that game. Then you have to explain and apologize, and people could get pissed that you proposed them something and then backed out.

To fix this it would be cool if there was an option to just auto-cancel everything sent with a game when an offer containing it gets accepted.

This way the first trader who accepted an offer would seal the deal, and all the other offers sent would be cancelled so that you can't have two accepted offers containing the same game.

Let me know if you think it's a good idea!

Thanks~

Don't worry, this is in my to-do list.
I myself do a LOT of multi offers when I really want to get (of get rid of) a game. I'm used to that, and I immediately cancel all other outstanding offers when one gets accepted. However sometimes they get accepted at night and it's bothersome indeed for everyone.

The trading system won't have this kind of setting when I release it, because I need to start simple and build upon it. But I'll get there. When I've implemented everything from Barter that I consider crucial, I'll start building upon it.
