Why would you accept such a bad trade? What would prompt someone to make such a bad trade? Something is off  and it was your second strike. Yea i like that bart-ee helped that person not get scammed. Scared to see what will happen without moderation now

As I wrote, I only accepted offers others made to me and get banned for that.
Dont really believe this, why are they looking at a trade you accepted if you turned moderation off?
Anyway, no ones linking to anything that would make me thing someone who got banned wasn't being shady.
Here's my trade offer that got me cancelled  https://barter.vg/u/5ba7/o/6175619/

All of the games I was trading and requesting had been in previous Humble Choice.  The person I offered the trade to could have accepted or cancelled at their own discretion. and if they didn't like the trade or felt "insulted" they could have blocked me to not see me again.  And to act like this is "protecting new users" is entirely disingenuous because both of us had 200+ trades.  There was zero reason for Bartee to stick his nose in that trade other than to force his own opinion on "resell value".  I don't resell keys so ""resell value" is entirely irrelevant to me.  Either you like the trade or you don't.

I would have zero problem with a comment pointing out the value discrepancy, but to cancel the trade and give me a ban is flat out absurd.

Nothing is off. He received that offer.....he did not send it.....just accepted it. How is that different from your own statement at Barter that you only want to receive offers of equal or greater value? One would almost be surprised that you would allow yourself to even receive something of greater value with all this virtue signalling? Why do you grant yourself that privilege, but OWM is not allowed to have it and must be punished for it?

You were also directly involved in a trade that got another user banned with your Bart-ee pal, but that did not stop you from successfully completing the offer for a rare game contrary to what Bart-ee wanted. You got what you wanted and did not speak up for your banned trade partner. In that trade you got a 14 euro game for an 11 euro game......yet here you are making a self righteous fuss about OWM receiving a 2.5 euro game for a 70 cents game. There was no difference....you both received the trade offer.

I do not mind that you are self serving. I expect you to take account of your own self interest first and foremost. There is nothing wrong with that and certainly not something to feel guilty about. There is however no need to attempt to assume the stature of a saint, only to have the white saintly gloves conceal less than clean hands. Your actions do no make you appear better than the rest. Let's just leave all that social justice behind us, shall we? No one wins there. The winning is in the trading itself....meaning all involved parties receiving something they would rather have than what they previously had. That is the idea and of enough merit in itself.

So what will happen now without moderation? I think you'll be fine (you've been on Steam and Steam Trades longer than myself), but if not, you are free to ask others how they go about coming to some sort of valuation and other related questions. For most, it will be some combination between grey market prices, price paid, H/W ratio, H supply, W supply, Steam price, Steam cheapest price ever, game rating, gameplay value and length, whether it is a Steam gift, retail key or publisher / developer key and personal preference.

Although Barter.vg was my main place to trade for the last year or so, it's nice to see that there's a alternative to go to so I can continue trading my games. It also seems Lestrades doesn't have overzealous moderation like Barter.vg, which is great!

Looking forward to trading with everyone here.

I first thought UpDownLeftDie was Bart-ee burner account (sorry lol)
But reading that (s)he didn't know that you could be moderated even if only one of the sides has moderation on, (s)he just must be new with barter.
@UpDownLeftDie, glad that you had a gentle chat with Bart-ee. I didn't. At all. (BTW, I'm not sure Bart-ee is a specific user, it might be the generic ID used by moderators).

Like many others I got called scammer and threatened by those arrogant moderators for trades I received and also for not using their grey market system values.
I don't want any part with grey market. That's my choice.
Moreover grey market is a rollercoaster. A fair trade one day wasn't anymore the day after, some games were strangely overvaluated, etc.
I carefully used H/W as it was clearly manipulated by resellers (they had keys but didn't add them to the site)
I personally used ITAD to gauge if my offer was fair or not. Moderators just didn't want that.
Does it make me a scammer, a kitten mollester or a child killer? Seems so...
I still managed to trade some games but very few compared to before. In fact, moderation gave strenght to those it was supposed to weaken : spammers and lowball resellers. I mostly only received offers from those after that.
That system went way overboard. It was a good idea, but badly implemented. It was a big nail in their coffin. Yeah, Bart-ee said site activities never got that high since moderation was implemented. Who really believed it? You could see the end coming...
Maybe the site owner was overwhelmed by how the moderators screwed things and just said stop.

To sum up, I'm a game collector (physical and digital) and since I have a family to take care of, not a lot of time to play thus even less time to manage leftovers from bundles I bought, Barter was a great tool to trade those.
Sure I miss the old barter, even with its flaws, even if I sometimes (often?) accepted trades not in my favor by their standards. I wanted a game, I got that game, I was happy. I was free to accept or not.
But I won't miss the moderated Barter much. In fact, I started giving my keys in SteamGifts rather that getting striked and insulted there.

The good thing with this shutting down is that it made me know this site. I'll give it a try, I was there for a minute and I already got an offer. Will I accept it or not? I don't know, but at least I'll be able to choose without anyone interfering.

And a big thanks to Barter's creator, it was part of my gamer life for a few years and I enjoyed it.
